A friend told me that while he was making himself a sandwich, he accidentally cut his finger with the bread knife. At first there was a lot of blood then he directed the Love that he is to the area which stopped the bleeding.
It got me thinking about something. If my friend can stop the bleeding and heal himself with Love, why didn't Love prevent the situation in the first place? I know I've had lots of experiences that could have been avoided but I've then reversed the situation by realising myself as Love. Is it possible accidents happen because one has forgotten one's identity or is there another purpose?
Later I watched an episode of a new series called Heroes, which I'd heard a lot about but hadn't seen before. It's about ordinary human beings with superhuman abilities. Some of the abilities include a police officer who can hear people's thoughts; a woman with superhuman strength; a girl who can regenerate her body; an artist who can paint the future; a young man who can affect the time/space continuum; a man who can alter his appearance and pass through objects. The only way these people get to explore their abilities is when they find themselves in certain situations.
For instance, the girl with regenerative abilities is attacked. When she's pushed she falls on an object that pierces her skull and she's killed. During the autopsy the surgeon pulls out the object from the girl's skull. The phone rings and the surgeon goes to answer it. In the meantime, the dead girl "wakes up", regenerates her body and sneaks out of the room. My point is she wouldn't have had the opportunity to express that ability if she hadn't been attacked.
Is it possible then that this reality was created in order for us to experience ourselves as superheroes?
The most famous fictional superhero is Superman. While Superman experiences life as Clark Kent, he is always aware that he didn't come from earth but he hails from Krypton. There's no way he would be able to fly or be so strong if he identified himself as human; he would be limited by his human beliefs. It is only during disasters that Superman gets to express his true identity, though he has to keep it a secret while he's experiencing life as Clark Kent.
I believe Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda is a book about superheroes. On one level, the gurus are ordinary humans and yet they are not. Why? Because these yogis identify themselves not as humans but as Spirit which make them have superhuman abilities, which they express when the situations arise. For instance, there is a yogi who can be in two places at once; a yogi who has lived in the same body for over 2,000 years; yogis who can resurrect the dead; yogis who can move at the speed of light; yogis who can leave their bodies at will; and even a yogi (the author) whose body remained incorruptible for a few weeks after he'd left the body.
The problem with being a superhero is that other people have to play the game of needing to be rescued. If we all identified ourselves as Spirit, there would be no need for the game of superheroes.
I believe that the only thing that is ever happening is Love.
Whether I forget my true identity as Love, Love is.
Whether I remember my true identity as Love, Love is.
Whether I'm playing the game of superheroes, Love is.
Back to my friend's finger cut. Love was the bread, knife and finger. When my friend cut his finger, Love was the blood flowing from the cut. When my friend remembered that Love is, his finger was restored.
It is possible that some people create experiences to remind themselves of their true identity as Love.
It is also possible that some people enjoy playing the game of superheroes until they no longer feel it necessary to be superheroes.
Regardless of the games I choose to play, Love is all there is.
